Pontiac County heritage buildings on web
In 2007, two employees from centre regional d’archives de l’Outaouais (CRAO) (Outaouais Regional Archives) came to the Pontiac Archives in Shawville, Quebec, to research for information on heritage buildings in the Pontiac County. They were interested in covered bridges, schools, churches, manses, banks, sugar shacks, post offices, hotels, country stores, lodges, sawmills, harness shops, agricultural buildings, heritage homes, and dams, to name a few categories.
Step # 1 was the digitalization of Archival Images (photos) from materials in the Pontiac Archives files. This will create a permanent record on a web page on the internet.
This material has been incorporated into an on-line searchable or interactive data base (web page) on the Outaouais building heritage site.
If you own heritage property in the Outaouais, you may find an image on the web site.
To access this site go to: http://patrimoineoutaouais.ca/index and follow the links.
At the Pontiac Archives in Shawville, you can find the originals as well as printouts of most of the material.
