Walter Brown Collection updated

September 2016 the Pontiac Archives received the updated version of the genealogy by Ottawa Valley Genealogist Walter William Brown, Smiths Falls, Ontario. This collection shows mostly Pontiac County families and some from Lanark plus the family tree branches.

There are 273,907 individuals listed and 97,314 marriages, and many clippings, census, headstone photos, just to name a few.

This collection is only available for the public to use for researching at the Pontiac Archives, in Shawville.

Wesley United Cemetery

The Pontiac Archives has received a copy in August 2016 for the public to use for research of Wesley United Cemetery, Charteris, Quebec, associated with the Methodist/United Church charges of Clarendon, Yarm and Shawville.

This project undertaken to determine who was buried in the Wesley United Cemetery in Charteris, Quebec began in 2013. Burials in this cemetery are from the 1880s until the present time. It was prepared by Gloria F. Tubman.

160th anniversary Expo Shawville Fair

160th anniversary Shawville Fair, 2016 Labour Day Weekend, Sept 1-5. Sara Knox, President of the Pontiac Agricultural Society for the past 4 years, with a board of directors have spent countless hours of planning and organizing all year long to provide a wonderful fair.

The Pontiac Archives has documentation on the many events ready for the researchers.
