Donation of documents by Mayfred Horner Dods family

June 2016, some documents were donated to the Pontiac Archives such as family history of old families from Clarendon. This is typed and in individual duotangs, as prepared by Rev Father Joseph Gravelle and others. Below is a list:

History of Transportation in Pontiac County

A book, written by Gordon “G. Graham, “Suffering from a Want of Communication: A History of Transportation in Pontiac County” is available for research at the Pontiac Archives.
It includes information dating back to 1800s. This book is written in English and in French.

There is also a large collection of materials regarding railroads in the Pontiac and the Ottawa Valley available for research. One file is “Union Village Horse Railway” which is very old.

Railroad – Beachburg subdivision

The Pontiac Archives has received recently a 28 page document, donated by Harry Hubley, in October 2015.
It covers the local railway items from Ottawa Papers – Beachburg subdivision.

Open House 2016 July

Dr George Alexander Purvis

Recently acquired Dr George Alexander Purvis documents including family tree. He was a well-known medical doctor, active in the community, owned the lived in the Stone building, built in the mid 1800s in Portage du Fort, Quebec.

McCrea family – Descendants of William McCrea born about 1796 in Ireland, probably in County Fermanagh, died 13 December 1865 in Clarendon Township Quebec, Canada.

Relatives of Hodgins, Sturgeon, Merrifield, Alexander, Schwartz, Craig, , just to name a few.
