Chief’s Footstep by Rick Blanchard

The Pontiac Archives has the book “The Chief’s Footsteps”, a social and natural history based on the life and times of Roy Peck of Danford Lake, Quebec, written by Rick Blanchard, First Edition 2014. This book contains about 400 pages. It is available to purchase at The Equity office in Shawville, Qc, or use for researching at the Pontiac Archives, Shawville, Qc.

English – Polish dictionaries

The Pontiac Archives recently received as a donation two Dictionaries.
English-Polish-Kashub Dictionary by Stanislaw Frymark and one by Julian Kulas, a brief non-selective overview of Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada.

Elgin Matthew Smith, 1925 – 1992.
David Smith, son of the above, from Welland, Ontario, donated to the Pontiac Archives the life story as written by his father. There are 90 pages. It is here for researchers. Do drop in and read it.

Dr Keith MacLellan – Member of Order of Canada

December 26, 2014, Dr Keith MacLellan was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada, for his contributions to advancing rural medicine in Canada. His family goes back seven generations locally in Pontiac County. Doctor MacLellan is a founding member of the group now known as the Society of Rural Physicians. The National Head Office is in Shawville, Quebec.

20th century Pontiac doctors honored

Pontiac Physicians of the 20th Century,is a book at the Pontiac Archives to use for researching, produced by The Pontiac Medical Historical Society in 2014.

It is a collection honouring the doctors who have served the Pontiac since before the beginning of the 20th Century and includes Dr Simon Joseph McNally who practiced from 1895-1948 serving the communities of Campbell’s Bay, Bryson, Calumet Island, Vinton, Otter Lake and Fort Coulonge.
Doctors included in the collection are Dr Odillon Beaudry, Dr Frank C Cowley, Dr Gerald Robert Green, Dr Edward Bruce Horner, Dr Robert Murray Hudson, Dr Harold C Keon, Dr Harold Laycock, Dr S E McDowell, Dr Simon Joseph McNally, Dr C F C Poweles, and Dr Haddon Rabb.

Closing for staff meetings dates

Hours open are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

From January to July, the Pontiac Archives closes early the first Tuesday of each month for a staff meeting at 3 pm . From August to December, the staff meeting is the first Wednesday of each month at 3 pm.
